Get Reviewed
Now, you may be saying to yourself, “Self, this sounds like a cheap attempt by a bunch of drunks to get free beer.” Well, you’re partly right, but we’re not really drunks… yet. But you couldn’t honestly expect us to go through the trouble of building this site and writing these reviews without putting up a page like this one, right? Right. So give us some points for trying, at least.
But think about it like this:
If you’re a winemaker, brewmaster or liquor maker, then this is free advertising for you. PLUS, this site ranks really well on a lot of search engines, so a review here with a link back to your website will help you improve your own site’s search engine placement. Points for relevance. I make my living as a web developer, I know what I’m talking about in this one (and possibly only) regard. That’s no joke. And all it costs you is 3 bottles of your product (or a six-pack if you make beer) and the shipping charges to California. It’s 3 bottles so I can share with the other 2 primary reviewers here. OK, we’ll even accept only 1 bottle if it’s really expensive hooch. Now that’s not so bad, is it? We’ll include a photo if we can, a link to your website if you have one, and usually we’ll say something nice about your product because we love booze (but we can’t guarantee that we’ll give a favorable review– if we did, then what kind of weight would our opinion have?). Wine Spectator and Wine Enthusiast charge hundreds for something like that (though, you know… those guys are pretty good at what they do and we’re not).
(I think maybe our 100 point sliding scale could accommodate bonus points for those who send more than the 3 bottle minimum… hmm… yeah, not a bad idea… but we’d probably have to state that the bonus points were for generosity, not necessarily quality).
So here’s what you do:
